Development and implementation of integrated systems utilising Rockwell Automation distributed Motion Control, PLC and SCADA systems.

CSR Gyprock & Fibre Cement - Yarraville
Gypsum Conveying Control System Project
- Design, develop and commission new process control equipment associated with the gypsum conveying and storage control system
- Detailed electrical design encompassing all statutory bodies.
- Development of PLC code.
- Development of HMI code.
- Development of operation & maintenance manuals.
- Development of ITP’s.
- Factory acceptance testing of the new control system (FAT).
Diageo Distilleries
Overall Equipment Effectiveness /Downtime Management Data Capture Project
Project Management, design, supply, install and commission the equipment as well as develop the OEE/DTM tools associated with the capture of equipment efficiencies and downtimes to the production lines. In partnership with the Siemens MES Group the solution harnessed the combined experience of the two companies to give Diageo’s staff the ability to visualise the plant’s production status instantaneously.
Dangerous Goods Store
Design, develop and commission equipment associated with the Dangerous Goods Store Incorporating a Simatic S7 Failsafe PLC rack to the existing Alcohol bulk storage facilty based around the principles and standards that apply to the existing site which fulfils all the requirements mentioned under and is as per all the local standards applicable.

Setter Motion Control System Replacement
- Design, installation and commissioning the replacement of the Motion Control System equipment on the Brick and Paving Setting Machinery.
Sanitarium Health Food Company – Cooranabong NSW
Wheat Brew Delivery Project
- Replacement and upgrade of the Exisitng Process Control System.
- Supply, install, develop and commission new process control and networking equipment.
- Provide control panel devices such as circuit breakers, motor contactors, control relays, terminals, wiring, wire numbering, lugs and cable ducts.
- Supply and installation of mechanical and electrical components.
- Provide electrical engineering to develop Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC and PanelView Plus software.
M Collins & Sons Sand Mine
Bass Engineering was involved from the conceptional stage of this project. The team provided electrical consultancy services to develop and design tender documentation for an automated sand processing plant located in Camden NSW.
Electrical design included -
- Two new HV incoming supply transformers, one for the sand processing plant and the other for a remote pumping station, controlled by radio telemetry.
- Metering, reticulation, lighting, power, main switchboards and motor control centres encompassing regulations from all statutory bodies.
Post tender acceptance, Bass Engineering was awarded the contract to provide project management (inclusive of construction), supply of main switchboards, motor control centres, PLC programming and complete commissioning of the Sand Mine.
CSR Fibre Cement
Contracted to provide engineering services for the OEE and quality improvement projects at CSR Fibre Cement Wetherill Park. (Duration full-time for almost two years) Bass Engineering provided:
- Design, PLC programming and commissioning of substantial plant and machinery upgrades.
- Maintenance personnel training.
- Development of PLC operating procedures, including site personnel support.
Alstom Power
Fabric Filter PLC Control System for Tarahan Coal Fired Power Station in Indonesia
- Design, configuration, programming, manufacturing, testing and delivery.
- Included Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs.
Unilever Australasia
Aerosols Plant
Implementation of AS 61511 for a safety instrumented system, inclusive of integration of Siemens S7 Failsafe PLC and WinCC Scada. An external audit for this project was conducted by the principal, and classified as “Worlds Best Practice”. The model for the project has now set the primary model AS/IEC 61511 implementation for all Unilever and contract packaging aerosol plants throughout the world.
